Vicar's Letter
Dear Parishioners,
After wide consultations, the Bishop and Church Commissioners have confirmed the full legal status of our group of parishes. This is excellent news as we go forward.
In recent years it has been good to establish this group of four parishes. That things have run so smoothly is greatly to the credit of Church Wardens, PCCs, assistant clergy and Lay Readers. And I pay tribute to them all. It's so good that all three churches have positive news to tell about attendances, the care of fabric, and continuing service in our communities. Many challenges lie in the future no doubt, and we must resist drift. But I can tell you from the heart that I have found ministry in these parts truly fulfilling. It will be good to see you at the end of July; and in October too!
This also gives me a chance to say a direct thank you for many kindnesses and warm words, both in recent weeks and over the last few years.
There will be a farewell service for all in our group at Melbourne Church on Tuesday 27th July 2010, at 7.30 pm. All are invited.
I will take up my Cathedral responsibilities in September, and will be formally installed in the Cathedral on Saturday 9th October at 4.00 pm. Again, all are very much invited.
